Hello First Free congregants:
Jeff Cebulski here. I am the Elder in charge of getting the search for a new Senior Pastor into motion. I will be at least the Elder Liaison for the Committee; I can become a voting member of the Committee if we need one more person to create an odd number.
The search for a new Pastor is in its early stages. (1) The Elders have contacted a respected minister, Dr. Jason Lancaster, who has created a side ministry helping churches look for pastors. He gathers potential candidates based on job descriptions, congregational makeup, and leadership expectations. Our Search Committee will then review the candidates he feeds to us. This will help us to expedite the first stage of the search process. We expect to hear from him within the next couple of weeks. (2) The makeup of our Search Committee is almost complete–we are waiting for a few people to respond to invitations. We are hoping for at least five people to serve, with much of their time spent privately reviewing sent materials before our occasional virtual meetings to share notes, etc. I will share names of Committee members once we get started.**
While I am sorry we have to do this again so soon, I hope to find this process interesting and revealing in regard to what the Lord has for us in the future. Please pray for discernment for Dr. Jason Lancaster and wisdom for those of us entrusted with the process.
